The reason is that the trimmers seem to have trouble keeping the loaded line from slipping down from the winch and around the teak pad. When it is then loaded and an attempt to "bring it in" is make an override occurs. >> >>>> >> >>>>>> >> >>>> >> >>>>>>Has anyone tried this or are there some better ideas? >> >>>> >> >>>>>> >> >>>> >> >>>> >> >>>> >> >> >>The angle to winch should be 5 to 10 degrees. If the angle is to small you get overrides. One solution is to stretch a shock cord across the deck about 6 inches in front of the winch and pass the sheet underneath then to the winch. This keeps the wraps form overriding when the line is tailed before it is loaded. If the angle to great because the winch pad is to high try reducing the gap between the which and the bottom of the pad by countersinking the winch in to the pad. This will stop the line jamming between the gaps and then the warp will slide back up on to the drum. Harald Kolter DAS BOOT #62
