Subject: Adjustable genoa vs floating
Info: (20102 views) Posted: Wednesday 10-5-11 09:13:15 AM
Don, I've heard that the floating leads are difficult to reproduce settings. My boat was set up for it but the previous owner went back to the stock track. When I bought the boat I installed a lewmar adjustable system. I like it because it had a open track section (for the head of the bolt) that didn't require any new holes. It's been 7 years now and no issues. I installed a single track section on each side for all 3 head sails I have (including a 130%). I saved money and weight by using a single lead with leader on the purchase. It adds a step to sail changes but I like the clean set up. Hope this helps. Scott

:: I thought there would be some comments on this one!! any

:: Thanks,Don

:: :: I see that some have adjustable genoa car and some have
:: :: a floating genoa car. Which one is better?
:: ::
:: :: Also, for the adjustable who would be the best? Harken
:: :: is common but expensive. Are the later hulls Lewmar? Has
:: :: anyone used garhauer? They seem inexpensive and have
:: :: heard good things about them.
:: ::
:: :: On the floating system, I have looked at the pictures on
:: :: the website but there are quite a few blocks to make it
:: :: work. Does anyone have a simple design?

:: :: Thanks for the help!!
