Subject: Depowering in heavy air

We had our final weekend regatta this weekend. We did very well in 10 knots and below. However the last race was about 14-15 knots.

We had the jib on and 4 people on board. We had everything tightened down and still could not point and could not make much over 6.5 knots upwind. We had 3 J/24s who had their #1 up but was backwinding quite a bit. We could not seem to point as high.

Downwind we had great legs. Hitting 9 knots no problem!

I know this seems like light winds for everyone in San Francisco but any pointers would be nice.
