I would love to end the life line at the last stanchion if it

is legal. I like the webbing idea. I now have the padded

life line at the rear and can see doing what you did,

Bob, and then replace the padded line with webbing

when it wears out. The padded line is really

comfortable. I sailed my Santana 22 several years

without any life lines. There were times when the wind

shut off that I was digging my nails into the glass to stay

on. It would be most embarassing for the helmsman to

go swimming. You better be nice to your crew or they

may just forget to retrieve you.
