Subject: Spinnaker Pole Storage - on boom?
Info: (25894 views) Posted: Saturday 5-21-11 08:22:21 PM
If I remember correctly, the weight of the express' boom was at the low end of the range for the boom kicker that fit it. I'll bet it would hold the pole too just fine.

:: We use a spring style kicker so I wouldn't know for
:: sure. Based on the overall weight of the boom vs the
:: spinnaker pole I have to imagine it would have a small
:: impact.
::
:: :: Does the added weight spoil mainsail shape in light air?
:: :: Do you know need a bigger boom kicker?
:: ::
:: :: :: We use this system also, as Ralph says it's easier to
:: :: :: use overall. The only thing is that your bowperson will
:: :: :: need to pay attention to the pole while it's stored in
:: :: :: the boom because it will have a tendency to spin while
:: :: :: in there causing the pole gear to get tangled.
:: :: ::
:: :: :: Your local sailmaker can make one for you.

:: :: ::
:: :: :: :: It's the only way to go. Quicker sets. No more jib
:: :: :: :: sheets under the pole on take downs.
:: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: :: I see in some of the photos that people are storing the
:: :: :: :: :: spinnaker pole on the boom.
:: :: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: :: Is this the preferred method and also where do you buy /
:: :: :: :: :: make the storage bag for the pole.
:: :: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: :: Thanks,
:: :: :: ::
