If you have the original Lewmar hatch, you should consider fixing it.
Depends on if you turn it around (so it opens facing aft). The newer
lewmar hatches will not open facing aft (at least as far as I can
tell) because they hit the slight rise just in front of the hatch
hole. This causes them to break (cracks the frame and lexan). If
anyone has found a solution for this, please chime in.
If you leave the hatch opening forward, then it will stop by hitting
the mast and you won't have any problem replacing with a newer Lewmar
hatch. The newer hatches fit the hole fine, though the bolt holes are
in different places.
New hatches are expensive, and a chunk of Lexan from Tap Plastic is
probably not that much. I don't know what it would take to get the
rubber seal, though...
