Subject: lightweight outboard
Info: (19907 views) Posted: Tuesday 1-3-12 04:34:31 PM
I have a ~5 year old 3.3hp 2cycle Mercury long shaft (i.e. Tohatsu). Has forward and neutral gear selector, water cooled. I don't believe the epa allows 2 cycles to be sold (new) in the states anymore.

The good: About 32 lb. The power is adequate in wind & waves, awesome on flat water. Tolerant of fuel contamination. Super simple to work on, no oil changes.

The bad: Small fuel tank (I added an external tank fitting). 2cycle, oil & gas is dirty and a pain.

:: what are people recommending these days in terms of
:: lightweight outboards for the express? Freak's - #51,
:: needs a new motor.
