I did make this case strongly with the NCORC folks when they were drafting the original guidelines, but the argument fell on deaf ears.
I'm much softer on the idea that dyneema is a good offshore lifeline material. I would personally want steel lifelines offshore. Failure from chafe is a huge issue offshore and stainless provides a much better safety margin.
