Velocitek is not integrated, as it only recieves information from the GPS and does its calculations without further input (well, user input only). I'm not familiar with Rockbox, but it sounds the same.
Instruments on board can tell you:
boatspeed apparent wind angle apparent wind speed heading depth GPS information and anything computed within a single device (location, SOG, computed distance, etc). Plugging a GPS into any other device to get results would not be allowed.
I think that's it, but I may have missed some...
As Will says, if you buy an integrated system, you are on the honor system not to use anything but the information listed above.
