Subject: Spinnaker sheeting angles, block position
Info: (15917 views) Posted: Tuesday 2-19-13 07:57:49 PM

:: Hi all,
::
:: Can anybody make a case for having the spinnaker blocks
:: mounted all the way aft on the stern pulpit?
::
:: We're always using a twinger to provide a fair lead
:: under the boom (twinger eased as much as possible
:: without touching the boom).
::
:: On the guy the twinger is all the way down pretty much
:: always.
::
:: Put those two together and it seems odd to run the sheet
:: all the way aft.
::
:: Anybody sheeting over the boom during heavy air to
:: depower the chute leech? This really makes me nervous
:: because if I remember correctly this can lead to
:: sheet/boom entanglements.
::
:: I'm thinking of moving the spinnaker sheet forward to a
:: large U bolt we have mounted just aft and outboard of
:: the primary winches. I'm hoping this will help with the
:: butt-cleats that always seem to inhibit putting the pole
:: up, and also I'm a little fearful of the 180 degree
:: loading on that aft block right behind my back... if
:: that were to pull out I'd be in a world of hurt.
::
:: thanks
