The stanchions on my boat are in need of replacement - two of them
were bent, and none of the four really matched each other anyway. Is
the original stanchion just a straight tube with some type of ring at
the top that just goes directly into the (interior) glassed-in
receptacle at the deck level? A couple of the stanchions on my boat
had a diagonal strut that went from the deck to part way up the main
piece. The diagonal strut didn't seem to provide improved strength,
as one tube was bent at the upper attachment point for the strut.
If there is someone who wouldn't mind my looking at their boat so
that I could take some photos, I'd greatly appreciate it. This coming
weekend isn't good for me, but perhaps next?
Thanks,
Maryann
