Subject: Outhaul Modification

We tied a three part dingy boom vang tackle to the end of the stock outhaul rope and fastened the other end to the front end of the boom. this gives us plenty of purchase. But it doesn't ease as easily as we would like. Replacing the line in the boom vang that came with the boat is a job for an expert. The rope on my outhaul was worn pretty badly by the jam cleat, but rather than replace it I patched it with needle and thread. Now that I have removed the original jam cleat on the bottom of the boom wear in the rope is no longer a problem. So, I'm still using the original outhaul line after 16 years.
