Interesting compensation with shortening the pole. Did you shorten it to right at 105% of J or to just under 110% (the class pole is just slightly over 110% but maybe the handicappers round down?). I'm going to check with PHRF to see if they'll give me any credit for using a J-24 pole (9.65 ft long = 107% of J)...probably not...

Also: did you use a small reacher at the mast's head or fractional?

>>Because I have the only e27 here, I went max height up my mast and shortened my spin pole and therefore my girth. With these adjustments, I take a 9 PHRF hit which is an excellent trade-off. My standard PHRF e27 hit with the standard set-up was 6 PHRF.

>>With the masthead, the boat goes much better in virtually all conditions and is much more fun to sail. I would recommend this highly, and possibly the one designs should consider this. This really powers up the boat big time.

>>With a small reacher in light air, the boat really heats up in the tighter angles and stays filled virtually all the time - very fun.

>>Go for it, you'll love it.
