My crew has been complaining about the sheet getting wrapped on the teak block for some time. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to trim for the first time and can better appreciate the problem. Sitting on top of the block, the winch is too high and the sheet wants to move down off the winch. I see no need for the teak block and will probably remove them to solve the problem. It appears some other boats have done the same. Does anyone recommend against removing the teak block? What is the risk?
