Despite high labor costs and environmental restrictions a fair number of boats are still being built in the U.S. I'm convinced a builder could be found in the U.S. or Canada that would build the boat for substantially less than $50,000. Possibly the boat's pricing could be structured with low price for a bare bones class-legal racer with optional features at additional cost (v-berth cushions, quarter-berths, electrical, and the like). My boat came with a bunch of unnecesary features that I didn't need and never used. I wonder if anybody has talked to Ron Moore in Santa Cruz who somebody said last year had expressed an interest in building the boat??
