Subject: Practical Sailor Article on E27
Info: (19763 views) Posted: Saturday 6-21-03 04:00:55 PM
There was a great 4-page article on the Express 27 with an excellent Terry White photo of Peaches in the July issue of Practical Sailor. They couldn't say enough good things about the boat. However, there was one bit of misinformation: "The E-27 is typically powered by a bracket- mounted outboard engine. (As one owner's comments suggests below, A 4.5-H.P. MIGHT BE ON THE SMALL SIDE.)"

As most of us know, this is not correct. If I ever replace my 2 h.p. Suzuki which weighs 26 pounds and has been more than adequate for the past 16 years, I will buy a 2 h.p. Honda 4-cycle which weighs about the same. I can't imagine why anyone would want anything bigger and heavier, except for a long trip up a river or against a strong tide. The only downside to these motors is having to fill the integral fuel tank every 50 minutes or so. If I were going to do some serious cruising I might buy a slightly bigger motor with a separate fuel tank.
