Tom went way south when cutting across from the city front to TI. The moores stayed north and caught a great reverse flow close to the island. I was lower and faster and thought I had them until they got into this stream. Tom made out on us as well with his southern path.
Things got fluky on the east side of the island and I lost W.W. forever. I took it wide, expecting a wind shadow from the island that never appeared, and W.W. hugged the island and rolled past.
There was a lot of flukyness, and holes between TI and Redrock. We kept thinking Melinda E. was hosed, then she would reappear out of a hole way ahead again.
Both Morphine and Gruntled fell into big holes and let W.W. and Magic Bus ahead. Melinda found wind and tide relief inshore.
After Redrock it was pretty much a parade with steady breeze all the way home. We finished with Morphine inches behind. They tossed my crew a beer to try to distract us, but we held them off.
