Do not remove the wire. Keep it bar tight. That's what keeps your aft lower attachment from ripping out of the deck in heavy winds and waves or in event of a broach. The wires under the deck mean that your aft lower attachment has the combined strength of the deck and the bruynzeel plywood bulkhead which is tabbed strongly to the hull. Stays that are bolted only to the deck have a habit of failing in heavy wind, especially if there is dry rot in the balsa core in the deck.
