Below quoted from Pressure Drop: Drew Scott was helming a F-28.

"My crew is starting to swing around to pick me up when El Raton, in perfect control slides up beside me and asks if I would like to get picked up. They had already doused their chute and stopped beside me. I took their offer and got back into a boat (trying to stop a lightweight trimaran next to someone when it is blowing in the mid-20s is not easy so I figured I would not turn down El Raton.

My crew ably finished the race on Papillon, only one boat behind El Raton! And I had many adventures with El Raton, but that is their story to tell.

So, a great big thank you to the Ray Lotto and the crew of El Raton for pulling my soggy hide out of Suisun Bay!!

Subject: 2009 Buoy & FunLD Series Prospects
Info: (25296 views) Posted: Sunday 12-21-08 08:58:39 AM
Hi Everyone:

The committee of Tom, Peggy, Brendan, Dan & Mike have been diligently preparing a Buoy Series poll, and a Fun Long Distance Poll for 2009 Series determination first week of January. We're also assuming everyone wants to do 3Bridge, as a combined fleet, so get your entry in to SSS.

Here's the total list of prospect races below. Want to add something let Mike know. Tactically, its anticpated that each fleet will chose its own core based on traditional levels of regatta participation. But who knows, the vote might indicate something new and exciting.

As an example, for Fun Long Distance, 3Bridge, Crewed LightShip, Vallejo and Ditch have traditionally been well participated. So its assumed that Fun LD racers will chose these as its core, plus a superset of 'prospect' races to fill out its Fun Long Distance Series.

Alternatively, for Buoy, its assumed that the core will skew to weekend buoy regattas, and that buoy also has a high probability of chosing 3Bridge, Crewerd LigthShip, Vallejo & Ditch as augments to its weekend regatta Series core.

Regardless, core and augments are meant to organically fall out of the polling based on voter preference.

Also Mike wants to make a pitch that FLD racers should vote for a change to the highpoint system for Fun LD Series only.
