They had already doused their chute and stopped beside me. I took their offer and got back into a boat (trying to stop a lightweight trimaran next to someone when it is blowing in the mid-20s is not easy so I figured I would not turn down El Raton. My crew ably finished the race on Papillon, only one boat behind El Raton! And I had many adventures with El Raton, but that is their story to tell. The two different ratings are foe using different jibs. PHRF allows a 6 second allowance if you use a #2 jib instead of a #1. So this is occassionally done in some races like shorthanded stuff. The fleet has decided to only race with a #1 (#2 not allowed) in one design races. This way the fleet remains a true one design instead of trying to use loopholes to win races.
