Norcalsailing report featuring Summer Palace:
http://www.norcalsailing.com/entries/2012/06/05/ditchrun2.html#.T-iWoI2Mfqs Below quoted from Pressure Drop: Drew Scott was helming a F-28. "My crew is starting to swing around to pick me up when El Raton, in perfect control slides up beside me and asks if I would like to get picked up. They had already doused their chute and stopped beside me. I took their offer and got back into a boat (trying to stop a lightweight trimaran next to someone when it is blowing in the mid-20s is not easy so I figured I would not turn down El Raton. My crew ably finished the race on Papillon, only one boat behind El Raton! And I had many adventures with El Raton, but that is their story to tell. So, a great big thank you to the Ray Lotto and the crew of El Raton for pulling my soggy hide out of Suisun Bay!! Drew Scott Papillon (most of the time)" |

1 - yes the peaches systems has a lot Going on down below and I'd love to capture that. Maybe this weekend at Vallejo.
2 - if I am not mistaken Raton runs a standard jib car system but maybe Ray can comment.
3 - we could capture measurements / bill of materials when we take pictures of boat systems in the name of sharing and helping owners optimize their boats without having to reinvent the wheel ea time.
Matt
:: Matt,
::
:: Wow that is awesome! A great collection of pictures from
:: various boats.
::
:: After looking at the document, I have a couple of
:: questions.
::
:: 1. For the system on Peaches, I am assuming there is a
:: set of blocks / cleats below to be able to adjust under
:: load?
:: 2. For the genoa lead on El Raton, is there a block
:: closer to the bow? The picture cuts off at the edge of
:: the window.
:: 3. Does anyone have a list of materials to construct
:: these? Yes the pictures tells the story but easier if
:: someone has already done this.
::
:: Thanks again Matt! Great job.
::
:: Don
::
:: :: Don - I had some pictures of a few of the options so
:: :: consolidated into a little presentation for you with
:: :: some my thoughts.
:: ::
:: :: Would be really interested to get other people's views
:: :: as I may not be aware of other alternatives or all the
:: :: pros/cons that are out there.
:: ::
:: :: I am hoping we can get pictures / commentary on a number
:: :: of systems (forestay fine tune, backstay, main sheet,
:: :: trav, etc....), consolidate and share as a reference for
:: :: people looking to make changes and for out of town boats
:: :: who dont have alot of other examples to look at.
:: ::
:: :: Hope this helps.

:: ::
:: ::
:: ::
:: :: :: I was looking at updating the tracks for the jib and was
:: :: :: wondering if people have converted to a floating lead
:: :: :: system for the jib.
:: :: ::
:: :: :: If so does anyone have pics or a description of what
:: :: :: they used.
:: :: ::
:: :: :: Thanks,
:: ::
:: :: :: Don
