Norcalsailing report featuring Summer Palace:
http://www.norcalsailing.com/entries/2012/06/05/ditchrun2.html#.T-iWoI2Mfqs Below quoted from Pressure Drop: Drew Scott was helming a F-28. "My crew is starting to swing around to pick me up when El Raton, in perfect control slides up beside me and asks if I would like to get picked up. They had already doused their chute and stopped beside me. I took their offer and got back into a boat (trying to stop a lightweight trimaran next to someone when it is blowing in the mid-20s is not easy so I figured I would not turn down El Raton. My crew ably finished the race on Papillon, only one boat behind El Raton! And I had many adventures with El Raton, but that is their story to tell. So, a great big thank you to the Ray Lotto and the crew of El Raton for pulling my soggy hide out of Suisun Bay!! Drew Scott Papillon (most of the time)" |

I'll keep a record of the commitments people make now, and embarrass anyone that doesn't follow through and sail.
One way to increase participation would be to assign different fleet members as the "promoter" for each event on the final schedule. They would be responsible for the cheerleading and whatever other minimal organizational work is required to make an event a success.
:: If there's interest, I'd be happy to schedule a group
:: conference call to discuss and maybe vote on a schedule.
:: I know it sounds like a lot of people, but I've seen it
:: work. -Joe B.
::
:: :: So, if I am understanding you correctly, you are wanting
:: :: more events on the schedule so you can choose between
:: :: races that fit your schedule. I think by having the
:: :: "Class" series and the "LD/Fun" series (or whatever you
:: :: want to call them) there should be plenty of events to
:: :: choose from.
:: ::
:: :: The idea for having less events is to get more boats on
:: :: the line. I think everyone will agree that having 20
:: :: boats to race against is far more fun than having 2. If
:: :: we make too many events on the schedule then I believe
:: :: we will get lower attendance overall. Just my opinion.
:: ::
:: :: Since I am not the class commodore, I am just giving my
:: :: opinion. If someone wants to put together some sort of
:: :: schedule, they are more than welcome to do so. Bruzzone
:: :: has been talking up a storm about a LD/Fun series on
:: :: this message board and has received little to no
:: :: response from the class.
:: ::
:: :: Remember, this is your class (all e27 owners) and it
:: :: will only be as good as the amount of effort that you
:: :: each put into it!
:: ::
:: :: -Jason:: :: (class cheerleader) :-)
