Below quoted from Pressure Drop: Drew Scott was helming a F-28.

"My crew is starting to swing around to pick me up when El Raton, in perfect control slides up beside me and asks if I would like to get picked up. They had already doused their chute and stopped beside me. I took their offer and got back into a boat (trying to stop a lightweight trimaran next to someone when it is blowing in the mid-20s is not easy so I figured I would not turn down El Raton.

My crew ably finished the race on Papillon, only one boat behind El Raton! And I had many adventures with El Raton, but that is their story to tell.

So, a great big thank you to the Ray Lotto and the crew of El Raton for pulling my soggy hide out of Suisun Bay!!

Subject: Cockpit Support

I noticed this weekend that the 2x4 post that supports the cockpit sole appears to be trying to protrude though the hull. This is the post that the outboard clamps to when stowed. Tapped out and everything is solid, of course, but looking at the hull from the outside, I can see where the post and mat are deforming the bottom. May be a result of sailing with six people for several races this year....

I'm considering knocking it out and running a support (2x4) from the rear cockpit support (the plywood diaphragm at about the location of the aft end of the pipe berth) up to a support at the first and second (from aft) cabin sole ribs. This would also provide a platform at the companion way, as opposed to stepping on the cooler all the time. Any thoughts?

Also: any new boats ordered yet? Anyone going to Key West?
