Actually the LDS series was propose to offset the season championship
and nationals was never intended to be on the schedule as a result
events like DHF and lightship are hurting in low attendance and with
the new NorClaORC rules it is even harder to get boats out.
In 2004, DHF, Lightship, Spinnaker Cup and Coastal cup were well
attended events on the E27 schedule; gone are the good old days
The LDS intent is and should be to cultivate participation in unique
and less popular events that are not normally on the schedule. The
schedule should change from year to year with input from boat owners.
Instead the schedule has become standardized with 3BF, YRA Party
Circuit and e27 Nationals the primary events. Other regattas like
2015s Crewed Lightship have no weight in the series and the proposed
schedule is no different for this year.
Its not about winning a series but acknowledging these other events
while the highly competitive races are reserved for the season
championship.
