Congratulations to Tim Sarns and crew who sailed E27 Lorax to an 8th place out of 18 boats in Section 09 in the Chicago Mackinac. Except for the squall that hit around midnight Sunday, the wind didn't blow hard enough for Lorax to stay with the C&C 35s and other much bigger boats in the 289.4 nautical mile race from Chicago to Mackinac Island. Also, the bigger boats had made it farther up the lake before the wind died on Monday as the boats neared the island.. Lorax's elapsed time was 62:42:22. This was the first time an Express 27 has done the Chicago Mac. (Bill Cox's E27 Creative #111 did the BYC Port Huron Mac 4 times, as I recall, placing near the top but never quite in the money.)

Maybe Tim will post a comment on the race?
