Hi Doug, In my opinion, replacing the original jib tracks is not a high priority item although I have replaced mine with two short tracks on each side. One advantage is reducing the number of holes in the deck through which water can leak into the balsa core. I'll send you pictures of mine. As I recall the forward tracks for the #3 and #4 or storm jib extend three or four inches forward of the shrouds and 6-8 inches aft of the shrouds. They are 10-12 inches long. The short genoa tracks are slightly longer and extend from about 6 inches forward of the edge of the cabin bulkhead to about 8 inches aft of the bulkhead. I use Harken cars with a line that goes forward to a block at the forward end of the track and back to a Harken cam cleat mounted on the side of the cabin at the back edge aft of the windows. This enables us to adjust the genoa lead fore and aft under load rather than waiting to tack. We don't do it often, but it comes in handy once in a while when we want to depower by moving the car aft or power up by moving it forward. Total adjustment fore and aft is about 6 inches for my #1 genoa. The longer track allows for sheeting a #2 genoa which can be used in PHRF but not class racing.
