Subject: Masthead light
Info: (22367 views) Posted: Tuesday 4-9-02 08:09:00 PM
When I bought my 1986 boat a few years ago, there was a masthead light already installed. It never has worked and I am either going to get rid of it to get the weight off the top of the mast or replace it with one that works. I have a few questions: (1) did the boat originally come with a masthead light?; (2) do the class rules require one?; (3) are there any other rules or regulations that anyone knows of that would make it mandatory to have a masthead light?; and (4) any thoughts on the general advisability of having a masthead light (e.g., for safety purposes while sailing at night)? Thanks in advance for your comments.
