I wouldn't recommend going to a 5.5 HP motor. The support for the motor mount is not really built to handle that much weight. Our boat must of had a larger engine at one time because the glass around the mount inside the boat was ll broken and had extra glass laid down around it at one point.

I would recommend going with a 4 hp if you really need something better. We borrowed Wile E. Coyote's 4 Hp for the reutrn from Stockton ride and it worked great. In flat water it pushed us along around 6 knots. Much better than our little 2 hp motor.

:: I would like to replace my 2 hp honda with little biger
:: motor.

:: Alternative 4-5 hp tohatsu? Is the standart motor mount
:: capable of carring such load?

:: It is twice the weight -around 55lbs.
