No dog in this hunt, but.......

Low Point scoring is inherently unfair in series made up of different events. Scoring the second place boat "2" whether there's two or ten boats is silly.

I think your current system is a Cox-Sprauge derivative. It's very fair, and if you want to require more participation, just state a higher number of required races to count.

Another scoring method which works is high point, with a set high point race value (say each race is worth 20 points). The winner is going to get twenty no matter how many boats are racing. A boats score is ((the number of boats beaten plus one) divided by (the number of boats racing)) times (the race value).

Unless you're very certain that you'll get a consistent number of boats at each event in the series, low point will discourage participation.

:: 2) In response to your post on e27 scoring system vs.
:: low point. Environmentally the current scoring method
:: for the F/LD series, consistently demonstrates that a
:: boat can win the series by sailing the minimum (four
:: this year) most attended F/LD events. And this has been
:: true since the F/LD seriies started. This is the
:: annomalous worm hole I'd like to regulate against. So,
:: I've proposed a low point scoring system for F/LD only
:: as one strategy to close this jump gate.
