:: :: Has anyone used a J24 Triad Trailer to haul an Express
:: :: 27? I have compared drawings of the two boats and have
:: :: noticed that the keel on the E 27 lies further forward,
:: :: that is, the dimension from the bow to the keel looks to
:: :: be about the same as a J24 thus allowing the use of the
:: :: Triad without too many alterations. If anyone has any
:: :: dimensions for an Express (bow to keel), they would be
:: :: greatly appreciated!
::
:: I would help you if my boat and trailer weren't locked
:: up in a warehouse for the winter. There are plenty of
:: E27s and trailers in the Bay Area if that's where you
:: are located. If not perhaps someone from the San
:: Francisco fleet could help.
::
:: Several years ago I had a new E27 trailer built by
:: Cradle Ride in Ontario, Canada. Here's how I did it: I
:: took several pictures of an existing E27 2-wheel
:: trailer. I asked the builder what measurements he
:: needed. I took the measurements and marked them on the
:: photos and mailed them to the builder. A month later I
:: picked up a very nice replica of an original equipment
:: E27 trailer.
::
:: As you know J24s weigh several hundred pounds more than
:: E27s, so a J24 trailer, with modifications. should work
:: fine.
Thank you! I actually found a few in Alameda and did exactly that -
with tape measure and camera in hand! Now for a little plasma cutting
and welding. Ahhhh, women's work is never done....
