Subject: Chainplate bolts

When was the last time you looked at the chainplate bolts? This past weekend I removed the chainplates and resealed them at the deck. This might have been the first time they had ever been removed. When I retightened the nuts, 3 bolts had the heads fall right off with no effort. After inspecting the others I found another bolt that looked questionable. I threw all the bolts in the same jar when I pulled both sides off, so I am uncertain to whether the sheared bolts came from the same side or not. I'm replacing all of them and just wanted to remind those who possibly have the original bolts to inspect them at the very least.
