Subject: Trail-Rite out of business

Thanks for naming a few sources for keeping the trailers roadworthy. Can anyone name a good source for trailer tires that is near RYC? Thanks, SDK

:: After I bought a new one from Trail-Rite, I rebuilt my
:: old trailer. I did a strip and paint and replaced the
:: axle, fenders, coupler, lights and just about everything
:: else on it. Total cost came to around $2,500 not
:: including anything for my time. I got the axle and some
:: other parts from Trail-Rite and the coupler and a bunch
:: of other stuff from Pacific Trailers.
::
:: Pacific Trailers was a really good resource, and has
:: just about anything you could need to get an old trailer
:: back to roadworthy status.

::
:: :: Look around any boat yard and most owners usally
:: :: overlook trailer mainttence. It may be far less
:: :: expensive to rebuild your trailer as opposed to
:: :: purchasing a new one and here are some vendors that I
:: :: have used.
:: ::
:: :: Valleyfabrication.com in Salinas builds and repairs
:: :: farms equipment and can cut out all the bad metal and
:: :: replace it with new as well as sandblast and paint the
:: :: entire trailer on site. KKMI has a welding shop in the
:: :: back but you will need to supply the metal.
:: ::
:: :: johnsonassociates.net is less then 5 miles away has all
:: :: the trailer parts; a new trailer heads is about $125.00.
:: :: You can purchase the entire axel or just replacement
:: :: parts and they can do the installation as well. I
:: :: purchase new fenders for about $25 each.
:: ::
:: :: It takes about 4 hours and a gallons and a quart to
:: :: paint the trailer.
::
:: :: There are several Products designed to cover bare rusted
:: :: “Por 15” has excellent reviews and runs about $150.00 a
:: :: gallon. A less expensive product is Rust-Oleum rusted
:: :: metal primer, which you can by at home depot.
