Subject: 150# Skipper
Info: (23283 views) Posted: Thursday 3-27-08 07:35:40 PM
Hi Eric, I was standing there when you brought up the 150 pounds proposed rule for the skipper. Effectively it means that the 4 hiking members of the crew can weigh 730 pounds. This allows as much seriouus meat on the rail for all of us just like the light skippers can now afford. This makes sense as the skipper cannot hike so why should he or she count in the total weight? This is an equalizer for full sized adults like me as compared with 150 pound skippers.

What what the rationale for your comment at the Spring Keel Regatta party? Please elaborate. I support it

Larry

:: Hi Eric:
::
:: Okay, okay . . . but explain to us why you suggested
:: 150#s as the skippers upper limit to me at the SKeel
:: mixer. It makes sense to me. Others support similar
:: strategy, So it must have made some kind of sense to you
:: becuase you were the first to mention it. So what is
:: that?
::
:: Please progress the dialogue along. This needs to be
:: fully reviewed before the next National meeting.
::
:: Mike
::
:: :: For the record, I am personally in favor of keeping the
:: :: existing 880 lb weight limit.
:: ::
:: :: I also believe very strongly that as a one design class
:: :: we have one rule for all class sanctioned events (and
:: :: most definitely including the "ld / fun series").
:: ::
:: :: Currently that rule is 880 lbs, period. If the fleet
:: :: wants to change that to a new number or formula, that is
:: :: fine, but it has to be done as a fleet (ie, at the
:: :: annual meeting).
