Subject: Trailering Weight and Tow Vehicle
Info: (11473 views) Posted: Thursday 4-24-14 11:05:14 AM
Hello Ransom, Jason's figures are right on. I have towed with a variety of vehicles. A V-6 should do the job. A v-8 is nice but not needed. I can tow around the boatyard with my Subaru. Rather then the investment in a truck I just rent a u haul for the twice a year move to the lake and back to the Bay. And welcome to the class! SDK

:: You should be good. I know "Dan the man" towed his e27
:: back from Santa Barbara several times with his V6 Nissan
:: pickup.
::
:: All up the e27 weighs 2450. Trailer adds maybe 1000lbs.
:: You shouldn't have more than 500lbs worth of gear on her
:: I would hope. This still gives you a 100lbs to spare.
:: Just take it slow and you will be fine.
::
:: Let us know which boat you are looking at/or get.
::
:: Welcome to the class!
::
:: Cheers,

:: Jason
::
:: :: Good Morning all,
:: ::
:: :: I am curious if anyone happens to know the tow weight of
:: :: the E27 with trailer and an average of gear. I might be
:: :: joining the class but my tow vehicle is an xterra with a
:: :: 5,000lb tow rating.
:: ::
:: :: I am just wondering if buying an express would also mean
:: :: buying a truck. Since I would likely dry sail the boat
:: :: and not tow it out of town(once it made it to the yard)
:: :: it would be an expensive waste to have to get a tow
:: :: vehicle too.
