Jason, while I'm new to the class, and don't race one design, I do think it's important to updated the class rules periodically to reflect advances in technology and improve the overall performance of the fleet, without getting crazy. And I do like your suggestion of permitting new owners to update their sail inventory the first year. I think Scott Sellers in his recap of the 2002 Nationals is correct when he says that good sails are only an enhancement until you have a good crew with a lot of race time.
