Vin,

Fortunately we mostly sail one-design out here therefore, we only have to sail per our class rules. I would try that approach with the guy. Your other alternative is to find 5 guys that want to buy boats and get them in contact with me. If you still have to race ORC then you can use a "D" shackle and attache the lifeline to the toe rail aft of the second stantion. Then run it back to the aft pulpit. The ORC rules probably require you to have a continuous life line from the aft pulpit to the forward pulpit. It most likely doesn't say how tight they have to be (unlike our class rules). So you can run them along the toe rail in the back so you can hike while driving and keep them loose enough so your crew can hike hard on the rail. Hope that helps.
