:: Hi everyone:
::
:: Bob Doscher fm SSC reports entries from 11 e27s. Its
:: still time to get your entry in and SSC has even allowed
:: me, once upon a time, to enter and pay when I arrived.
::
:: For those avoiding the rush at the hoist contact Susan
:: at SSC for advance berth assignment. Or, simply show up
:: and be assigned one.
::
:: On motoring back it takes 9 - 11 hours. For those with
:: the plastic 2 horse engines plan on the longer side of
:: that range. My Suzuki 5 horse requires between 7 & 9
:: gallons of gas to reach Brickyard Cove. I motor back the
:: entire way, use the false river short cut, and usually
:: don't raise the main until leaving false river at the
:: gravel barges. Once the main is up I cantinue to motor
:: sail. Although, if its windy in Honker Bay may turn off
:: the motor for a period of time and justy sail. The last
:: two years I motored back almost all the way (to Vallejo)
:: w/o raising the main as the conditions were fairly
:: light.
::
:: Once upon a time I detered from the river and used the
:: Northern channel to Susuin River entrance, to avoid the
:: river flood, although one crew on the boat had local
:: knowledge to do this following the wooden stakes pounded
:: into the mud flat.
::
:: Also, I always tie the engine onto the boat. Bracing
:: from both sides of the engine to starboard and port
:: inner pushpit stanchions. I also tie from the engine
:: through the starboard cockpit drain hole, through the
:: cockpit and back down the port drain hole too tie again
:: to the engine. This steadies the engine and assures the
:: bracket won't pop out of the boat backwards; especially
:: in reverse.
::
:: For those planning to take a couple of days back consult
:: the Delta guide for lay over destinations.
::
:: mb
::
:: :: Maybe as many as 15 boats now
:: ::
:: :: mb
:: ::
:: :: :: Looks like up to six or seven more boats for a fleet of
:: :: :: 12 -13 for Ditch based on email responses back thru
:: :: :: morning of 5/26.
:: :: ::
:: :: :: mb
:: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: 3 More email me back thumbs up Ditch Run
:: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: mb
:: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: :: Currently six boats are signed up for Ditch and its
:: :: :: :: :: anyone's guess what happens to overall scoring in the
:: :: :: :: :: hotly contested Fun Long Distance Series. Entry with the
:: :: :: :: :: aim of mixing it up and scrambling the standings.
:: :: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: :: Plane into the freash water and warm breezes of the
:: :: :: :: :: Delta on June 6. It does not take a lot of sandwiches or
:: :: :: :: :: crew. Nor does it require trailering the boat back.
:: :: :: :: :: Spend some time in the Delta afterwards. Cruise back
:: :: :: :: :: over a couple of days.
:: :: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: :: Uddles of potential crew want a ride on e27s for this
:: :: :: :: :: race. Should be no problem doubling our entries to 12 or
:: :: :: :: :: more between now and the start.
:: :: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: :: e27 Festivities at SSC following the race.
:: :: :: :: ::
:: :: :: :: :: mb
