I remember now, that I replace the tactor pads with wider pads, say 5 1/2 inchs at the base. This gave the winch a flat area to be mounted to so the sheet could not get under the winch base. I have had no problems since.

Last year I added the cross sheeting blocks by mounting a long shackel to the winch pad. This was done by drill and boring a notch into the teak in front around one of the 5 mounting bolts large enough to fit the shackel and the attaching a heavy duty block to it.
