:: I'm puttin a new deck on my boat (#111) and I'm
:: considering making some deck layout changes. My crew has
:: suggested removing the primary winches and using the
:: cabin top winches instead(he has sailed an Olson 30 with
:: this set up and like it). I see that several boats on
:: the west coast are doing this. What are the pro's and
:: con's?
::
:: As I see it: Pro = easy to x-sheet, keeps weight closer
:: to centerline when not x-sheeting. Con = halyard slip,
:: makes the cock pick a pretty busy place (as I now lauch
:: the kite out of the companion way)
::
:: Anyone who's used this set up feel free to chime in!

:: Scott One thing that you will have to think about is the fair lead angle..when you have an angle like the boat originally was set for is going to be different than when you go to the cabin top..you may be overloading your fair leed blocks and track for what there are designed for..also your sheet WLL is going to change
