Subject: bilge pump rebuild/replacement

I have rebilt my pump a zillion times. It picks up crud in the bilge and clogs. I finally solved the problem with the help of the guzzler people. Replace the standard valves with"duckbill valves" and the pump works forever. I was pleased by the mod.

:: :: Hi:
:: ::
:: :: I recently replaced the 400 on Desperado. They go every
:: :: couple of years where the boot microtears. West Marine
:: :: of Whale Point only stock 500's . . . but can order 400
:: :: overnight.

:: :: :: I believe West Marine has a rebuild kit for this. There
:: :: :: are two listed on west marine. Model 400 and 500. 400 is
:: :: :: for the 1" ports and 500 is the 1.5" ports. Here are the
:: :: :: part numbers for the rebuild kits for each:
:: :: ::
:: :: :: model 400 - 142737
:: ::
:: :: :: model 500 - 142745
:: :: ::
:: :: :: Hope that helps.

:: :: :: :: The bilge pump on #111 has a bad valve and won't develop
:: :: :: :: any suction. I would like to replace it or rebuild but
:: :: :: :: can't seem to find the exact replacement. The pump
:: :: :: :: itself says it's a Guzzler but I can't seem to find any
:: :: :: :: model # on it. Googled it and didn't find anything that
:: :: :: :: looked like it would mount in the current location with
:: :: :: :: the same handle cut out. Any help would be much
:: :: :: :: appreciated. Thanks
:: Thankd for your help fellas. Just ordered it from West.
:: I didn't think to google the company name, Bosworth, but
:: when i did I finally got some hits. Thanks again!
