If you want an anodized pole you will need to get it from someone like Ballenger Spars. However, a few years ago I needed to replace my pole for another boat. I went to a supplier for aircraft tubing, but I think a tubing supplier would do. Anyway, I asked for an anodized extrusion. The owner asked me why I wanted anodized and I really didn't know except that that was what I was replacing. He told me that the nonanodized was much stronger for the same size and much less expensive. It was not as pretty, but I went with his suggestion. Yes, it does need to be cleaned occassionally or painted and touched up periodically. I do not know of any other reason for the more expensive anodized tube. It was a very strong pole. I was very pleased with it and should I need to do it for my Express would seriously consider the nonanodized.

Just my 2,

Bob
