Subject: Help With Trailering & Derigging

We use a 2x4 across the stern pulpit with a U nailed to it off to one side. Just strap it to the pulpit and then lay the mast on it. Works fine. For the bow, we have a bridle made from some old line to hang the butt end.

We've thought about using the motor mount, but we're a bit concerned about damaging it bouncing down the road.

:: I'd appreciate an image, description and/or measurements
:: for an aft mast support using the motor mount or another
:: way to support the mast while on a trailrite trailer?
:: Previously on other sailboats, I used a pipe that had a
:: U-shaped bracket that clamped over the motor mount, and
:: which had an upper piece to support the mast. The pipe
:: could be moved up or down to facilitate cradling the
:: mast when lowering it. The forward (upper) portion of
:: the mast was cradled on the pulpit using a shaped piece
:: of wood. Any standard way the e27 crowd does this?
::
:: Also, I know rigging hates being flogged around when
:: trailering, so plan to wrap mast and rigging tightly
:: with bubble wrap for support. Any other tricks I should
:: know about derigging an e27 before transportation?
::
:: Thanks for any assistance you can provide, John
