We didn't like the idea of footing against the remaining ebb through
the lee of Angle Island so went clock wise. Other than that we really
thought it was a wash without any clear choice. The difference was
that there was not much of a lee going to the straits and good tide
through it- then the hot angle to the finish from Alcatraz. As it was
we were nearly bow to bow with boats that went the opposite way! A
fun race and the best kind of end to a race with a big choice like
that!

:: Dave,
::
:: It was a great weekend. I think there were a few new
:: boat owners out which is great for the fleet.
::
:: Motorcycle Irene actually went around clockwise and only
:: finished a couple of boatlengths behind us (CCW), while
:: Witchy Woman (also CCW) finished a couple of boatlengths
:: ahead of us.
::
:: I can testify that there was no "big thinking" on our
:: boat. We felt that CW was better for current through
:: Raccoon Straits, but we weren't that excited about a
:: long beat to Alcatraz. So after going back and forth
:: many times we decided on CCW about 5 minutes before the
:: start. It was more of a lucky guess than a well thought
:: out plan.
::
:: See you on the water.

::
:: :: Hi,
:: ::
:: :: It was great to be out there with you all this weekend.
:: :: It was my first race with the fleet and we got many warm
:: :: welcomes out there on the course. Thanks for making us
:: :: feel at home!
:: ::
:: :: So, who went which way on Sunday? I know I went the
:: :: wrong way (clockwise), along with a few others. Was the
:: :: big gap between 37 and 80 the CW/CCW split?
:: ::
:: :: Witchy Woman 13

:: :: Wile E Coyote 14
::
:: :: Motorcycle Irene 18
::
:: :: Great White 30
::
:: :: ERGO 35

:: :: ---- split??? ---
:: :: Desparado 80

::
:: :: Express Way 90
::
:: :: Attack from Mars 97 (CW)

::
:: :: STREGA 127 (CW)
::
:: :: Archimedes 132 (CW)

:: :: Dianne 183 (DNC)

:: :: What was the big thinking in CCW? No sailing deep angles
:: :: to the finish?
:: ::
:: :: Cheers,
::
