I've reefed once a long time ago on the Lighten-up. It was blowing very hard, we had reeefed to the first reef point bringing the headboard down to the hounds. And, then had to lead a 75% 3/4 hoist #4 to the rail for further depowering. I do have a main with reef especially for the ocean. MORA rules required a reef, although our current SF OYRA rules do not . . . which I think is a mistake.
