I look into the micronet systems and felt it was over kill for the Express. One reason was the cost of the system. Each display is around $5 to $600.00 and a basic system starts at $1000.00. Even though the instruments are solar powered and wireless the systems hull transmitter is not solar powered and requires an internal boat battery. Layline is selling the tacktick systems at 25% off. The only wires are from the from the speed and depth transducer. The micronet systems would begin to pay off if you wanted to have more displays like a wind instruments. I think the tacktick is the way to go!

:: Anyone have experience with the micronet system
:: available from TACKTICK? I heard them referred to as
:: "buggy", but no specifics.

:: :: Has everyone heard about the new Micronet wireless
:: :: instruments coming out from Takctick? They are wireless
:: :: and solar powered. Sounds like a great idea and about
:: :: time that technology caught up with us (or vice versa).
:: :: Check them out if you haven't seen them.

:: ::
:: :: Unfortunately they are not available until July.

:: :: :: I had to replace my TackTicks (which I lost by leaving
:: :: :: at the docks at TISC--if anyone sees a SpeedMaster &
:: :: :: RaceMaster pop up somewhere, maybe they are mine?)
:: :: ::
:: :: :: US prices are really steep, but I found much better
:: :: :: prices out of the UK, as well as good service. I ordered
:: :: :: from www.seamarknunn.co.uk. Prices are about 2/3rds US
:: :: :: prices, though shipping is a bit more expensive.
:: :: ::
:: :: :: BTW, I love my TackTicks. The SpeedMaster works with the
:: :: :: transducers from the flaky KVH instruments the boat came
:: :: :: with, and I seriously abused the same RaceMaster in 3
:: :: :: Worrell 1000s and it showed no wear at all. And now I
:: :: :: don't need to carry a battery during day-time races.
:: :: :: All-in-all I removed 40lbs of electronics off my boat by
:: :: :: going to the TackTicks.
