Lake St. Clair provided its usual variety of conditions--Days 1 & 2 light easterly winds and smooth water and Day 3, 15 knots out of the southwest with a 2 ft. chop. There were three races on Day 1 and Day 2 and one race on the third day.

Harald Kolter started the regatta strong with an unprecedented four firsts in the first four races. But he took a 9th in the last race on day two and went into the final race on the last day in third place, down two points to Lorax and one point to #110 skippered by John Van Tol from Bayview YC. Harald won the start in the last race but was passed on the second run by Piper and was behind most of the beat to the finish. But he did what he had to do and passed Piper to take a first in the race and the regatta when Lorax finished fourth behind Jerry Lohmeyer's Mika. Van Tol, sailing with a light crew, faltered in the last race, taking a 8th in the heavy, top-of-the-one going but easily salvaged a third for the regatta.
