Alright George! . . . is signed up for HMB.

Echeyde also asked why Half Moon Bay over other options that weekend. Here's my reply back.

Half Moon Bay Race is one race in the Single Handed Sailing Society Race Series that is a sub set of the Fun Series. For e27 as agreed by those of us sailing SSS sub set of Funm, single and dbh'd boats start seperately, but are scored cummulatively on time. So you can enter either way. There are usually more dbh'd boats . . . but if its light wind single handed boats can do just as well. I encourage dbh'd, they way I go which is really easy to administer.

Great White is signed up dbh'd. I anticipate Phil Krasner will go single? Double? There are three or four other SSS members in e27 so I'm hoping we can raise an e27 fleet with 5 boats. Half Moon Bay is 26 or so miles down the coast in a protected harbour with berthing. I'll arrange a raft up space likely in a commercial berth.

There's a fishing fleet there where you can actually buy fish off the boat. HMB YC sponsoring the race, is an Ark, beached on a sand dune off the beach adjacent to some funky boats yards. If you want you can moor on one of their bouys. I'm not sure how you get in. Some boats bring a dingy.

There's a local cowboy bar down the street in Priceton; right across the Street from 1910 Princeton Hotel which is a restaruent and b&b. All of this is within a 10 minute walk of the harbour. There's a gas station across the higheay for fueling tanks on Sunday for the cruise back. I've sailed back all the way which is a day sail and motored & sailed. 10 years ago whether SSS. MORA or OYRA it was a race back on the second day; but now its more causal with a cruise back. . There are several sea food restaurants, the HFB Brewery and other b&bs near by.

Overnight in the commercial berth is around $20 (I'll check on this) courtesy of the San Mateo Harbour District. There's less expensive than b&b lodging 4 miles south on Hwy 1 in Half Moon Bay; Ramada and Holiday Inn.

HMB proper is an artsy farm type town with a main street with small town like Sausalito feel at a low price . . . where the Pumpjkin festival is. SSS dbh'd i a pretty competitive sport boat fleet w/SC27, L28s, Ultralight 30s, M24s, e27s.

There's an SSS perpetual trophy which is a compass in binnacle on base. Plus SSS usually give usefull type trophies. For details see Sfbaysss.org. Skippers meeting which is the last time t sign up is always the Wednesday before the race at Oakland YC at 7:30 pm; in this case 6/24. Mike :: Still time to sign up with SSS for easy to administer
